HAART was founded in 2010 as an organization dedicated to fighting human trafficking in Kenya and Eastern Africa. HAART works through a multi-disciplinary approach applying the UN Four P’s Strategy to combat trafficking in persons: Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnerships

Prevention

HAART conducts trainings from national to grassroots level, sometimes in a hotel with judges or members of parliament and another time under a tree or in a shack. HAART works with art, youth and use its experience and knowledge to create quality training material.

Protection

HAART works with local grassroots partners and volunteers to identify victims of human trafficking. The victims have usually come back from horrendous exploitation from abroad or internally in Kenya. We then use a trauma-informed and victim-centered approach to work with the survivor towards healing and rehabilitation.

Prosecution

As an organization we believe in the use of the rule of law in addressing some of the root cases in human trafficking. Our approach looks at the rule of law in accessing justice for victims of trafficking that look at the criminal justice system to hold their perpetrators accountable.

Partnerships

HAART believes in using a multi-displinary approach in addressing the issue of human trafficking. This can only be done through partnership with different stakeholders to ensure that we have a comprehensive approach.
